I desire to see the wind blow again...
I desire to see the wind blow again…
It’s cliche to talk about how we can’t see the wind, but can feel the effects of it. It’s also cliche to start a blog post with “It’s cliche to (fill in the blank). So, we’re on a roll. :)
But, it’s true. You can’t see the wind. We only see objects or people that are effected by the wind. The trees, the clouds, Marilyn Monroe…
The wind seems to blow stronger at high altitudes, so the higher the object, the easier it is to see the wind blow.
Recently, we haven’t seen the wind blow as much…The flag has been at half-mast too long. The flag was not designed to be in the middle of a pole, it was designed to wave in freedom at the top of the pole, so the world could look and see a symbol of hope, justice, and liberty. Yes, the wind is still present, but it seems concealed.
I desire to see the wind blow again…
Often times, wind is used as a metaphor for God. We can’t see God. We can’t touch God. God is most likely not going to call you on the phone, although He has the ability. God is like the wind. We see His effect on objects and people. He is omnipresent, like the wind. God created the sky, the oceans, the trees, man and woman, and even the rocks, to worship Him! And we still see His effects today! God is still present, but He seems concealed.
I desire to see God move again…
As you drive by churches and Christian schools, you see our American flag, lowered. Almost as if it didn’t have enough strength to make it to the top. But every time the American flag lowers at a church or Christian school, we also see the Christian flag lowered. Even lower than the American flag. The wind blows less in America. God seems to move EVEN less in America.
I desire to see God move again…
The sky is clear blue, the sun is brightly shining, and glorious silhouettes are cast over the land from two proudly waving flags. The reach is far! Has been far. But, as the flags lower, so does their reach.
I desire to see God move again…
Perhaps we have confused our priorities. Could it be that we have come to value one flag’s reach over the other’s? Could it be that we have come to value the American kingdom over the Christian kingdom?
The wind is still blowing, God is still moving, so what has changed?
Us.
We have mis-prioritized the flags, we have lowered the flags, we have forgotten or chosen not to believe in the power that moves the flags, and we have even burned the flags.
I desire to see God move again and because I do: I will re-prioritize my flags, I will raise my flag, I will choose to believe in the Power that moves the flag, and I will pray for a fire of revival to cleanse, heal, and refine the nation!
God is still moving, and I will raise my flag behind the banner of His wisdom, righteousness, holiness, faithfulness, strength, victory, freedom, power, glory, liberty, love, gentleness, patience, and peace!
“May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.” Psalm 20:5
Let this be our prayer for each other as we seek to raise high the flag of Jesus!
